Welcome to
Collector Classics
. We work hard to be an eBay DESTINATION site, a place where there is always a good mix - from those pesky inexpensive stamps that you need to fill the holes in your collection to good quality collector stamps to the unique, unusual and rarely seen - something for everyone regardless of your level as a collector.
We offer items in two formats. We will offer a regular flow of Auctions with starting bids typically at 10% to 25% of catalog for bargain hunters. For the more advanced collector, our better, rarer, and most unique and interesting items will be available for IMMEDIATE purchase through our "Buy It Now" eBay Store, where you can shop at YOUR CONVENIENCE.
We sincerely appreciate your business. If you like what you see, PLEASE bookmark us as one of you FAVORITES on eBay and check back frequently as new material is constantly being added. Over the next several years, I plan to offer more than 100,000 stamp lots for sale. Thank you!
DESCRIPTION TERMINOLOGY
My written descriptions will provide a general description of the item being offered and I try hard to be as accurate as possible. I’ve been an avid collector for 57 years but I’m human so, if you think I’ve misidentified something, please let me know! PICTURES provided with each item are considered to be the PRIMARY DESCRIPTION, so ultimately YOU MUST BE THE JUDGE of the condition and value of each lot. If you have questions or concerns, PLEASE ASK!
Here is a list of symbols that I sometimes use, in various combinations, to help describe my stamps:
MNH =
mint never hinged
, MOG =
mint with most of the original gum and probably hinged,
UNUSED =
mint no gum
U =
used. If stamp was originally issued with no gum, it will be listed as
MAI
(mint as issued),
L
= light,
VL
= very light,
XL
= extra light,
A
= average,
F
= fine,
FVF
= fine very fine,
VF
= very fine,
XF
= extra fine,
SUP
= superb,
Pnn =
number of
perfs,
IMPERF
= no perforations,
NWMK
= no watermark,
SWMK =
single line watermark,
DWMK
=
double line watermark,
T
= type,
CVAR
= color variety,
V
= vertical,
H
= horizontal,
PB
= plate block,
B4
= block of four,
B6
= block of six,
FDC
= first day cover
CONDITIONS OF SALE
You
will receive the exact same stamp(s) that you see in the scan(s). Unless
specifically stated in the description, stock pages are not included in the auction.
The CV that I offer as a
RETAIL POINT OF REFERENCE
is based on the highest listed catalog price among Scott, Mystic, Kenmore, Harris, and Brookman catalogs for a non-faulted VERY FINE specimen. While Scott is considered the de facto catalog standard and is much more detailed with older classic material, they do not actually sell stamps. The other catalogs listed do sell stamps, so they tend to have a better sense of what the actual retail market price is.
Stamps of a lesser grade and condition typically will sell for less and stamps that are better will often sell for multiples of this price. The guideline (CV) that I provide is generally accepted as the price that a very nice stamp will sell for at retail. Please adjust your bids according to overall condition and relative rarity. I will try to be as accurate and as descriptive as I can in my listings. If you believe I have made a serious mistake in identification or description (including photo) of a stamp you’ve purchased from me, please email me with details and we will work it out. It is my intention to treat collectors as fairly as possible.
Legally required sales tax is not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges, where required by law, are the buyer's responsibility and will be added to your invoice.
PayPal & Major Credit Cards are accepted.
SHIPPING
